12 income streams for copywriters
Want to get over the feast or famine faith of 60% of Copywriters, earn money on the side without leaving Copywriting behind, have a constant flow of earnings and enjoy your big money with little to no effort?
Keep reading because I would be sharing 12 no brainer income streams that you can explore as a copywriter.
Hey, Mate! I'm Teslimat and ya welcome!
In this blog, I talk about freelancing, copywriting, sales and sales psychology, marketing and marketing strategies, and entrepreneurial mindsets.
Today, I would be unveiling 12 no brainer income streams that successful copywriters are exploring.
Wait, why do you need multiple income streams?
Simple! So that you can multiply your income and earn more doing less, and also be able to get your big money quicker.
But you must know this if you are still a little new to copywriting, you have to be good and have confidence in your writing before you can explore most of these streams.
Some of these streams won't go well to you and so might just be no fun for you, well that's why I am giving you 12; at least you would find 2 strong income streams you can explore.
Okay, let get down to the 12 income streams you can explore as a Copywriter
#1. Earning royalties
Do you know you can earn royalties for a copy you once wrote?
Yes, just like normal writers can earn royalties on a weekly or monthly basis for their one time work, you can also get paid for a copy you wrote.
And you would also be paid your agreed fee.
As long as you are good, you would be paid for as long as the copy is used.
The next income stream that is quite slow but jaw droppingly passive is...
#2. Revenue Share
Revenue sharing is when you discount your fees in exchange for a percentage of your client’s sales revenue as a result of your copy.
This is different from royalties because you would be discounting your fee here and even though there’s a possibility for earnings far greater than your typical rates, there’s no guarantee that the revenue will meet your target amount.
This is especially good if your client is a start-up that can't pay you your deserved price.
All you have to do is tell them your normal fee and tell them you would be discounting it for them in exchange for a few percent of their sales revenue.
It will also take a little longer before you actually get the money. So you can take this as an investment.
Be sure your client is someone you can trust to be transparent with sales data and actually pay you the percentage you agreed on.
Another stream you should explore is..
#3 Affiliate Marketing
If you have an audience that knows, likes and trusts you, why not use your skills to sell them their solution?
The best part is you don't have to own or create these solutions, you just have to get connected with those that owe it.
And if you are lucky enough to find the right product to promote to your audience, they would act massively and you would get a commission for every sales or successful referral you make.
Another income skill that MOST copywriters need out there is...
#4 Copyediting & Proofreading
You are already a Copywriter, you are fluent in the language, you are a wordsmith, and you are passionate about marketing, so are the other 90% of Copywriters out there.
But let's be frank here, we, copywriters, tend to rush through the actual writing, focus on getting the message across and strategizing the best way to do just that, and we just spell wrongly and make lots of errors.
So why don't you help other copywriters and marketers out there to edit and proofread their copy and content, and get paid for it.
Of course, it’s not that they can’t do it themselves, but you and I know how hard it can be to catch our own errors.
The one is needed by MANY brands and individuals, and it pays really well, it is...
#5 Social Media Management
Have you ever heard that copywriters are content writers?
So, if you can craft stunning captions and have a little time to spare then you can learn social media marketing, since you can write enticing copy that compel viewers to take action.
You also can learn how to navigate around Canvas to create graphics.
Another great income stream for copywriters is…
#6 Content Writing & Paid Articles
This is one can be a hard nut but if you can crack into the content writing overly saturated market by standing out with your unique voice and catchy hooks, well researched information, and highly engaging contents.
Then you can get paid as much as $1,000 per post. All you need is writing samples then you can go ahead and pitch your content ideas to relevant blogs.
Some of these blogs are Elite Personal Finance, ListVerse, Pxleye, The Penny Hoarder and Income Diary.
You can also find brands that relate with your writing style and niche, pitch them on writing their contents and craft something that is hypnotic and valuable to their type of audience.
Another no hassle way to make more money is...
#7 Monetizing Content
If you have a large number of audiences that love your contents, why not monetize those contents through sponsorships, advertising spots, and Google Ads.
I have also heard of people getting paid on Patreon, which I thought was only for artists and novelist, as content creators, writers and even Copywriter
All you have to do is to offer paid educational articles, opinion pieces, or even personal content about your experience as a professional.
You even go through your social media to see which of your posts your audience likes more, expand on it a little and offer it as paid on Patreon.
Okay, another superb way to make some passive income as a copywriter is...
#8 Amazon Book Publishing
So, you are very good at educating using your content and have a big idea you want to expand on, why not write a book and publish it on Amazon?
You get to keep up to 70% of the sales price just having your books there.
And if you have your own ISBN you can also sell your books yourself and get to keep the whole sales price.
The best part of this is that you can write on any topics and you can even hire a professional ghostwriter that know more about the topic, pay them for their service and publish the book as your own.
The next astonishing way to earn more teaching your expertise is...
#9 Course Creation
Do you know your expertise so well that you can teach anyone anything on it but you don't have time to actually put up a class?
Then why don't you create a paid course on Coursera, Udemy or even Alison. You get to teach your expertise once and you get to keep up to 97% every time someone buys your course.
This is just like Amazon Book Publishing but better, you can actually do the real teaching with your words using videos and podcasts.
This next one is something so simple, you have probably been offering it for free...
#10 Marketing Consulting
This is more active but you can still get paid massively for consultation.
A marketing consultant is an advisor and strategist who works with companies to create and design marketing campaigns.
Everytime you go on a discovery call with your clients, you strategize with them on how they can craft high-converting campaigns and promotions.
You, sometimes, help them to create marketing plans and help them determine their marketing message.
These are exactly what you do as a marketing consultant, but instead of doing all these for free, you charge for it.
This next one is especially easier to do but would prefer you to be active and it is...
# 11 Project Management
Are you a before-deadline person that enjoys completing projects on time and on budget?
Can you actually coordinate other professionals to delegate tasks, manage their workflow, track deadlines and deliverables, and work hand in hand with one another?
Then you should actually take on the role of a project manager, especially if you are still in your early stages as a copywriter.
Slack can be of a great help to you and you can also make use of the team Social Media group to get the project professionals together.
The last and the most technical is...
#12 Funnel-Building
It's not your job as a Copywriter to build funnels but if you are familiar with online tools like ClickFunnels, GetResponse Autofunnel, Leadpages or others, you can get paid to build funnels for your Copywriting clients.
Perhaps you are actually doing this for free already, now that you know you can actually get paid for this.
Okay Mate, those are the 12 no brainer income streams that you can explore as a copywriter.
Which of these income streams would you prefer to explore? Let me know in the comments.
Now that you've made your pick and it's time to explore and earn more money.
Until next time, bye for now 👋
