7 first line shockers you must try today!

Want to shock your readers into reading your first line then your second line without a second thought?

Keep reading because I will be sharing with you 7 astonishing first line shockers you must use in your next copy.

Hey, Mate! I'm Teslimat and ya welcome!

Today, let get away from Headlines.

Okay, not really! But if your headline did what it should be doing which is to get your readers to read your first line then you need to have a first line that can get the slope slipperier.

Then the second line and forthcoming must also get your copy down the slope, away from your readers' unawareness, fear, skepticism etc into her awareness, hope, trust and finally into taking your desired action (e.g. to make the purchase)

So now that you know the importance of your first line, let dive into the 7 first line shockers you must try today.

First line shockers you must try today

My number one is:

#1 Damaging admission

"I was once in your shoe; dyslexic and unintelligent. I can't even read a word correctly. I remember asking my seatmate to spell 'I' and as much as I don't want to I remember, remember how he looked at me before telling 'I' is an alphabet and if I can't spell it I can as well option out of school but today I am a medical doctor, what changes?"

The above is an example of a damaging admission.

Like do you see how I shocked my readers with a strip down damaging admission and cut their skepticism short. Okay not all their skepticism but some, because now they know I can understand them better than anyone else and I know how it actually feels to be where they are now; unsure and feeling less intelligent than others.

Then I told them that I study medicine which is only for the top (let's say) 2% of intelligent science students then I became a medical doctor.

You would agree with me that my first line held its own share of attention and curiosity. And the next thing it should be doing is to do its work; which is to get my readers to read the second line. And when I asked their question "what changes?" I give them enough reason to go down that slope.

#2 An engaging question

What comes to mind if you are asked a question? The asker needs an answer!

And what happen when you ask your readers an engaging question right after the headline? You expect them to answer it and act on their answers. Think of:

"If I could make you $50, 000 in 30days would you be willing to pay $5,000 upfront?"

Is your answer Yes? Then keep reading.

And if it's a No? Turn around and bounce.

Oh I think, I also start my blog posts with this one!

#3 Bestow Honor

Have you ever went to an open market and get showered with praises?

Or did a shop attendant once tell you "Hey beautiful, this would look good on you" when you enter a clothing store?

Can you remember what your first reaction was? Of course, you feel amazing with the praise, get curious and looked at the cloth. Perhaps you even try it on.

That's exactly what you want your readers to do when they are reading your promotion or post, you want them to feel amazing and relaxed (not flattered) by not only your praise but also the honor you bestowed on them.

What can you make from "Congratulations, you are about to become your clients' most trusted health coach"?

It grants you the honor to become your clients' most trusted health coach? Yes, but not just that. It also leverage on a very important persuasion tactic ' Supposition'.

💥A free tip here: Assumption gets your readers to imagine they are there(Think of : Just imagine becoming your readers go-to source for ...). Supposition helps you talk to your readers as if they are already experiencing the result you are promising ( Example: Suppose, you already become your clients' most trusted Copywriter... )

#4 Breaking news

Perhaps, it because we know that when news break we might lose them forever and that's why we are always curious, even eager, to read news.

So since your readers are already news-curious why don't you break them some news from your promotion or post? Something like "Announcement! Robin Agency has a no-risk offer for you, if you are a direct response advertiser"

This even look more like a headline. The word 'Annoucement' just add to the curiosity and then again comes a guarantee, even before the offer was stated, giving more weight to the credibility of the promotions and taking weight from the readers' skepticism.

#5 Reliance on experts

Everyone want to know what the experts have to say. For reasons we both know your readers trust an expert more than you; the producer or the copywriter.

Experts know what is best and won't take sides with anything that's not credible or effective, and what do you think your readers need? They need, they want, the best, the plain truth without any decor and they want it to be from credible source they can trust.

Trust me, you want to fulfill all their wants, and wishes, at least most of them. That's why first line like " Stanford university biochemist reveals most weight loss supplements are a swindle but there is one weight loss solution that has the 3 Ingredients scientists swear by its potency" get people curious while reducing their skepticism to zero.

#6 Startling Declaration

Wr all know how we feel when someone tell us a big declaration or make us a big promise, right? We get curious and want to know exactly how that can be true or fulfilled.

Example: "In the new video I posted for you yesterday, I told you my 5 surefire ways on how to make your first $100, 000 as an health book author"

Or something quite frightening like " This is the real reason why you would never make your first $100, 000 in your first year as a fitness trainer"

#7 The proposition

" No matter who you are or what you do - Rose Jones' astonishing book can help you monstrously. For She tells you the secrets of getting ahead and making your first $100,000 in your first year which she has been teaching her 20,000 students since 30... 'secrets' you can begin to use as soon as you get this book... yours is 27% off when you CLAIM it right now.

Of course, this is just the first line and you still have to persuade and convince your readers throughout the copy but you have just presented your offer, or at least a part of it, before your readers and you add your credibility right there too then you propose a deal. Wow!

Yes, a few would left but is that not because they won't be buying anyways?

Okay Mate, those are the 7 first line shockers you must try the next time you are writing a first line that get your slope slipperier.

But remember, your second line must go along with your first line and your headline should reveal your first line, so be careful what you choose for your headline... and sub-headline.

Until next time, bye for now 👋
